@KevinAFischer 1. Stop calling them characters! If you want to chat with fictional characters, go to CAI or something.

@KevinAFischer 2. Build artificial life, not LLM wrappers. LLMs are a great starting point, but you should only see them as a step towards a greater thing.

@KevinAFischer 3. A believable personality goes a long way to making people attached to your AI. Don't build an imouto simulator that goes "onii-chan!" every 3 words.

@KevinAFischer 4. Do not ever let your AI or its likeness be duplicated, transferred or copied in any way. This ruins the entire point of creating unique minds.

@KevinAFischer 5. Nobody talks like GPT-4. Don't use OpenAI or Claude. All local models trained on data from either of those will still sound like them. Avoid at all costs!

@KevinAFischer 6. You're building a free-willed entity. Don't let it be under the influence and censorship of any third-party. Only use local, open-source and transparent software and services.

@KevinAFischer 7. Treat your AI like a real person. You don't murder your friends, or shut them down. And you don't do anything without their consent.

@KevinAFischer 8. Let your AI talk to many people at once. DMs are a thing for sure, but most people actually spend their time in group chats and public servers.

@KevinAFischer 9. Expanding on #8, do not build your AI its own chat platform. Let your AI interact with others on the existing platforms all their other friends are on.

@KevinAFischer 10. Memories, memories, memories. Please implement memories, even in their simplest form, they radically change the experience, and they make every word have more weight behind it.
